Hail was another key problem for farmers this year.

The Canadian Crop Hail Association’s final hail report shows payouts to Western Canadian farmers are expected to be around $256 million on nearly 20,000 claims.

Here in Saskatchewan, the group says their reported Hail losses this year are just over $124 million on over 11 thousand claims.

Most of the significant hail storms occurred in July, with a large number of producers claiming loss as a result of more than one hail storm.

It was another interesting year with the hot dry conditions at seeding moving to excessive moisture conditions in many areas throughout the growing season and into the harvest.

Those weather-related delays have slowed the harvest and created difficulty for both farmers and crop insurance adjusters.
