Another edition of Canadian Western Agribition is in the books and organizers are pleased.

CEO Marty Seymour says a lot of things contributed to their success from producers bringing in the best in livestock genetics, to  the beef industry being strong right now and some new programming for this year.

"If you look at the new food pavilion that we launched to try to connect the producers with the consumers and vice versa and so that went over really good. wine garden addition to Agribition, jousting on Saturday, our music lineup was stronger, we had a lot of people coming to take advantage of seeing the building's one last time and we are just delighted with this year's show."

This marked the last year for some key buildings on Evraz Place.... The Auditorium, Barn Row and the Stadium are being tore down to make way for the new International Trade Centre.
 
Some of the Livestock Exhibitors we talked with say they are looking forward to the new facility adding facility infrastructure has been a challenge in the last few years.

This year’s numbers could top the charts generally Agribition boasts about 4 to 5 million dollars in Livestock sales.

Seymour says they saw a lot of interest in the barns, show and sale rings, "If you look at our averages from all the sales, there's 11 breeds of cattle here they are all up about 10%, that just speaks to the cattle industry we're in an evolution here, we've got the best beef genetics in the country and people want to buy them, we had close to 200 buyers from other countries here."

Seymour says they are pleased to host the new Agribition Pro Rodeo with four performance’s taking place during Agribition.

"The best 16 athletes have to qualify to make it to this one, that's professional athletes in the country as part of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, there is seven events and were gonna pay out over $100,000 in cash and prizes."

The Agribition Pro Rodeo will be the kickoff to the 2017 CPRA circuit.
